Course overview
The Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification is a nationally recognised course designed to equip learners with the skills needed to respond to emergency situations in the workplace.
This qualification meets Health and Safety Executive (HSE) requirements for workplace first aid provision and is suitable for a wide range of industries where a basic level of first aid cover is required.
Delivered by experienced practitioners, the course focuses on practical, real-world scenarios rather than theory alone. You will learn how to assess incidents, respond quickly and safely, and provide effective first aid until professional medical help arrives.
On successful completion, you will be qualified to act as an emergency first aider in the workplace, with certification valid for three years.
Choosing the right first aid course
If you're unsure which course is right for you, the key difference is the level of responsibility required in your role.
Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) is this 1-day course designed for lower-risk environments or individuals who need a basic level of first aid training.
Alternatively, First Aid at Work (FAW) is a longer, 3-day course that provides a more comprehensive level of training and is required for higher-risk workplaces or those responsible for full first aid provision.
If your role involves greater responsibility, higher risk, or you are the designated first aider for your workplace, this full First Aid at Work qualification is recommended.
How lessons work
Training is delivered through a combination of classroom-based learning and hands-on practical exercises. The course is typically completed over one day, with a strong focus on applying knowledge in realistic scenarios.
You will practise key life-saving techniques under guidance, ensuring you are confident in your ability to respond effectively. Assessment is carried out through practical demonstration and a short multiple-choice test.
Our instructors provide clear, structured support throughout, helping you build both competence and confidence.
